Morgan earned her Bachelor of Science from Auburn University and her Master's as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Eastern Kentucky University. She spent three years working on the inpatient psychiatric unit at the University of Kentucky teaching hospital and has more than a decade of experience in psychiatric practice across diverse settings.
In 2026, Morgan opened Smither Psychiatry to offer accessible, honest, approachable, personalized, and efficient care to patients in the Highlands of Louisville, Kentucky and the surrounding area — and via telehealth, when appropriate, to patients across Northern Kentucky, Lexington, Owensboro, and beyond.
Morgan has a true passion for working with patients impacted by PTSD or trauma — whether emotional, verbal, mental, sexual, or physical in nature. Smither Psychiatry strives to offer trauma-informed care. Morgan is also able to issue written certifications for the Kentucky Medicinal Cannabis Program for qualifying patients with PTSD.
Morgan also specializes in bipolar disorder, addiction and substance use disorders, domestic violence, ADHD, unipolar depression, and anxiety disorders, and enjoys working with the elderly and aging population. Smither Psychiatry is a proud ally and welcoming home for the LGBTQ+ community. Morgan additionally has experience treating patients diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and psychosis not otherwise specified, and has guest lectured at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing on addiction and substance use disorders.

Cassandra is a Licensed Practical Nurse with an Associate of Applied Science. She started in healthcare in 2006 as a CNA in high school, worked her way through nursing school, and earned her nursing license in 2012. Since then she has practiced across a wide range of settings — geriatrics, urgent care, women's health, mental health, adult health, and school nursing — bringing nearly two decades of patient-care experience to Smither Psychiatry.
